MAR GE-70

MN GE-70 is an effective glass etch that may be used at low concentrations to frost glass fiber tips, or, at higher concentrations to completely remove glass fibers protruding into the hole.

Advantages of the MAR GE-70 process include

  • Consistent etch rate - Uniform hole wall topography
  • Roughens glass fibers - Improved conditioning and subsequent electroless copper coverage and adhesion
  • Ability to frost or etch glass fibers- Process versatility
SOLUTION MAKE-UP (100 litre solution)
DI Water 99.50%
HCL 0.50%
Glass Frost 1 – 3g/l MAR GE-70
Glass Etch 30 – 50 g/l MAR GE-70

NOTE: The make-up of this solution must be done in the stated above order.

SOLUTION LIFE

MAR-Tech recommends that the GE-70 bath be replaced when the concentration of copper metal reaches 1,500ppm in the made up solution.

SAFETY

Consult the individual Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) covering MAR GE-70 for complete information.

GE-77 working solution is a strong acidic solution containing inorganic fluoride salts and acids. Avoid breathing vapors. Use product in a well ventilated area. When handling concentrate or working solution, wear protective clothing, gloves, and chemical safety goggles. In case of skin contact, remove contaminated clothing and flush affected area with plenty of cold water. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of cold water and seek medical attention immediately.

Store GE-77 in its original container. Keep away from direct sunlight and temperature extremes.

Store GE-70 in a dry, cool area.

SUGGESTED FIRST AID

Adequate measures must be taken to protect workers from eye and skin contact. Use only within a well ventilated area. If local exhaust is inadequate, use of approved respiratory protection is recommended. Wash thoroughly after handling chemicals and at the end of the work period. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.

In case of skin contact, drench skin with water and wash thoroughly with soap and water. If irritation develops, consult a physician.

In the event of eye contact, immediately flush eyes with a continuously flowing stream of water directed into the eyes for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention.

If inhaled, move exposed individual to fresh air. Call a physician.

If ingested, call a physician immediately.
